The team at Muscle Joint Bone are dedicated to providing the utmost health and wellbeing solutions. Operating on a philosophy of getting you better faster, for longer, we provide only the highest quality services and products, and one of the best services we offer is our people.

Each onsite specialist is an experienced in their respective field, having received accreditation as an Osteopath, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or Podiatrist. Not only do they work spectacularly as individuals, but they also shine as a team, having joined forces on numerous occasions to plan and manage treatment for specific conditions.

Mr Peter Gavalas

Director + Senior Sports Physiotherapist

B.HSC, Masters Physiotherapy

Peter Gavalas joins Northern Spinal as one of our Senior Physiotherapist’s having graduated from Latrobe University with a Master’s in Physiotherapy. Pete has experience at elite level sport as both an athlete and a practitioner after spending 2 years at the Australian Institute of Sport on scholarship and a season at Melbourne Victory as a goal keeper. Currently, he heads up the Physiotherapy and high performance department at Green Gully soccer club in the NPL Victoria.

Pete’s experience is in sport and spinal injury management and his case load varies in age from young kids to older adults. Having practiced for almost 10 years now he has developed great relationships with various leading Orthopaedic and Spinal surgeons should you need to seek their opinion for your pain.

When he is not working or watching his beloved Melbourne Demons (lose mostly) Pete enjoys training, motorbike riding, fishing and spending time with his family’

Dr Jarrod Alivizatos


B.Sci (Clinical Sci), M.Hs (Osteo), M.A.O.A

Dr Jarrod Alivizatos, founder of Northern Spinal & Sports Injury Clinic and Muscle Joint Bone, strongly believes that through his work he can assist with the body’s inherent capacity to heal itself. His sheer dedication to wellbeing and unparalleled industry knowledge, make him one of our greatest assets. Jarrod has previously worked in rehabilitation programs for two major AFL clubs.

Dr Sofia Mahoney

B App Sci (Clinical)/B Chiropractic Sci (with distinction), Cert IV Pilates

Sofia mentions “I completed my five-year studies and graduated with a Distinction in the Bachelor of Applied Science/Chiropractic and Distinction in the Bachelor of Health Science. I also continued on with additional studies and gained my Certificate IV qualification as a Pilates instructor.

I help people by using a holistic approach that aims for longer term results. I use multi-modal treatment plans that ensure my care is strictly evidence based and patient-centered. To enhance my multi-modal treatments, I am also qualified in Dry needling and Chinese cupping.”

Outside of work, she is passionate about soccer and kickboxing with her kickboxing allowing her to travel the world. This has also led to her a special interest in sports related injuries and allowing people to get back to what they love doing and enjoying life.

Dr Jason Tsakmakis

B.Hsci (Human Physiology & Anatomy), B.Hsci/B.App Sci (Osteopathy)

Jason developed his passion and respect for the human body from a young age while playing at some of the highest levels of competition in basketball. By receiving treatment and rehabilitation for numerous injuries he recognised the true potential of the body. Currently, he is in charge of athlete welfare and team Osteopath for Northcote City soccer club in the NPL2 Victoria.

Jason has additional training in dry needling and enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints from patients from all walks of life. He believes that the opportunity to help his patients is a blessing and enjoys the journey he takes with patients.

Jason has a very strong appreciation of our body’s ability to self-heal. He enjoys empowering patients and educating to allow them to have an active role in their recovery.

Emily Glaw


B HSc/B AppSc (Chiropractic)

Emily grew up being fascinated with helping others by a hands-on approach. Moving from country NSW, she graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science/Chiropractic degree and Bachelor of Health Science degree at RMIT University. Emily has a background in netball and has 4 years experience as a sports trainer/first aider for Greensborough Football Club.

Emily believes in a multi-modal approach to treatment including but limited to: manipulation, mobilisation, soft tissue massage, stretching, dry needling and using therapeutic machines when appropriate. She has a strong perspective in treatment and prevention of pain, along with improving function and empowering those with tools for self management.
