Hand & Wrist Pain Treatment
At Muscle Joint Bone Clinic, Your Body Matters.
Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the medium nerve gets compressed at the wrist because of swelling, and you may feel tingling, burning, aching or numbness in your palm, wrist, thumb or fingers. Pain can shoot up to your elbow and your thumb muscle may become weak, making it difficult to grasp things.
Repetitive movements can cause swelling such as using the computer keyboard, playing netball or writing.
Carpal tunnel can also be due to pregnancy, menopause, diabetes, gout, under active thyroid or rheumatoid arthritis.
Wrist pain treatment & other methods used to treat carpal tunnel include resting your hands on their sides and not the wrists, over the counter pain medications, using typing pads, wearing wrist splints, or applying warm or cold compressions a few times a day.
If you cannot move your wrist, are bleeding significantly, have a fever or rash or you have had a recent infection or virus and your wrist is swelling, contact a medical professional as soon as possible.
Our experienced team can provide hands-on treatment and prescribe injury-specific exercises to help you regain normal movement.
Complete rest of the wrist and muscles is the best way to treat carpal tunnel. Icing the wrist in the early stages of the condition is also recommended in order to decrease the swelling.
